Longines presents its new Record collection. These automatic models combine classic elegance and excellence, aspiring to become the spearheads of the brand. And there is no shortage of arguments for these exceptional timepieces, whose movement includes a single-crystal silicon balance spring with unique properties. A first for Longines, it is certified as a “chronometer” by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), a designation awarded to all of the pieces in the Record collection.
On Saturday 10 June 2017, in its boutique located at Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, Longines, together with its Ambassador of Elegance Kate Winslet, presented anexclusive and very limited new timepiece: The Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet. As the Title Partner, the Official Timekeeper and the Official Watch of the 168th edition of the Prix de Diane Longines, the Swiss watchmaker was delighted to be part of this elegant equestrian weekend. The program started on Saturday June 17 with the Prix Longines Future Racing Stars and the Prix de la Reine Marie-Amélie Longines, which respectively awarded the best young jockey and amateur lady rider. The following day, the animated and entertaining Village de Diane welcomed the tens of thousands visitors for Sunday’s culminating race: the Prix de Diane Longines. The winning horse’s owner, trainer and jockey were granted an elegant Longines watch from the hands of the Longines Ambassador of Elegance Mikaela Shiffrin, American alpine skier who won her first Overall Crystal Globe of the 2016/2017 FIS Alpine Cup Season and her fourth small globe in slalom. Mikaela Shiffrin also awarded the “Mademoiselle Diane par Longines” prize to the most elegant racegoer of the day.

As the Official Partner of the Australian Turf Club, Longines was proud to time the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes race day, the thrilling climax of the Sydney Carnival. The event was rounded off by an exhibition match between both finalists and the two tennis legends Arantxa Sanchez, patron of the 2016 Longines Future Tennis Aces and Kim Clijsters. Longines and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) have presented the 2015 Longines World’s Best Racehorse award on 19 January 2016 in London, at the iconic hotel Claridge’s. Thanks to his fabulous “Grand Slam” success, American Pharoah, rated 134, was crowned the 2015 Longines World’s Best Racehorse following his victories in the American Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup Classic. The British racehorse Golden Horn was rated second at 130, while the French mare Treve and American runner Shared Belief shared third place, equally rated at 126. During the same ceremony, a new award for 2015, the Longines World’s Best Horse Race, was presented. The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe was declared winner of this important prize, with a rating of 125.75. All the winners were presented with elegant Longines watches from the Conquest Classic collection.

After two days of tournament, during which the 16 participants, aged under 13 years old, could showcase their talent, Xiaofei Wang (China) won against Jack Pinnington-Jones (United Kingdom). Both finalists took part in an exhibition match with Arnaud Clément, patron of this year’s tournament and Michaël Llodra, and were presented with a Longines watch, a trophy, as well as an annual bursary until their 16th birthday.

Longines was proud to present the Longines Future Ski Champions competition for the second year running. This event took place on Saturday, 20 December 2014, in Val d'Isère, and gave thirteen female skiers under the age of 16 a chance to compete against each other under identical conditions to those of the professional. Carlotta Saracco, representing Italy, won the 2014 Longines Future Ski Champions title and was rewarded with a Longines timepiece during a prize-giving ceremony that took place in the center of Val d’Isère.
Over the weekend, the world’s best riders and horses offered the spectators a unique show with outstanding performances in Las Vegas famous Thomas & Mack Center. Steve Guerdat (SUI) steered Albfuehren’s Paille to victory in the final of the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping on Sunday 19 April. Pénélope Leprevost (FRA) earned the second place with Vagabond de la Pomme while Bertram Allen (IRL) riding Molly Malone V slotted into third place. The finalists were awarded an elegant Longines watch. The culminating day of the competition was enhanced by the presence of the icon of women’s tennis, Stefanie Graf, Longines Ambassador of Elegance.

Echoing the brand's passion for equestrian sport, the back cover of this exceptional creation is decorated with a horse flying over a jump. In 2012, Longines celebrates its 180th anniversary. To mark the occasion, 180 celebrity guests, local politicians, representatives of the Swatch Group and journalists listened to a welcome address at Longines Headquarters in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Recalling Longines' rich history and its continued development across the ages, the various speakers -- including Nick Hayek, President of the Executive Group Management Board of The Swatch Group, and Walter von Känel, Director of Longines -- all emphasised the importance of the close ties that link the company to the town of Saint-Imier.
The Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 was inspired by models developed during the 1930s that had to meet extremely stringent criteria from the point of view of appearance, quality and precision in order to be selected by aviators and bear the name "Type A-7" given by the U.S. Army. Their large diameter and fluted crown enabled them to be easily read and quickly manipulated, even if the pilot was wearing thick gloves. The angled black dial with its large white numerals also ensured easy reading in poor light or turbulence. The angle of the dial was specially designed for the chronograph to be worn on the inside of the wrist. This meant that the dial was aligned with the aircraft's instruments and the pilot could read the timepiece without moving his or her arm or letting go of the controls.
