Aksel Lund Svindal
Aksel Lund Svindal Longines ambassador
The Norwegian skier, Aksel Lund Svindal, winner of numerous titles including several Crystal Globes, has personified the sporting elegance of Longines since 2007.
He quickly emerged as a very promising talent after making his début in the world of skiing. In 2002, the young skier was crowned champion in the junior category when he won the Junior Combined. The same year saw him win a silver medal in the Super-G and two bronze medals in the Downhill and Slalom. In 2003, Aksel Lund Svindal won a place on the podium for the first time at the World Championships after finishing second in the Men’s Combined in Kitzbühel. At the end of the 2006 season, the skier’s huge potential was confirmed with second place in the overall ranking of the World Cup. In 2007, Aksel Lund Svindal achieved the feat of becoming the first Norwegian in history to win a gold medal in the Downhill at the World Championships in Are. In the same year, he topped the overall ranking of the World Cup and joined the ranks of the great winners of the prestigious Crystal Globe.

The skier’s return was eagerly awaited at the start of the 2007-2008 season, but in a stroke of bad luck, Aksel Lund Svindal was injured in the downhill race at Beaver Creek. The following year saw him make a spectacular return. His fantastic results allowed him to take home the Big Crystal Globe for the second time in his career and the Small Globe in the Super-G. At the Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010, Aksel Lund Svindal excelled on the slopes, winning three medals: Gold in the Super-G, Silver in the Downhill and Bronze in the Giant Slalom. Over the course of the following seasons, the Norwegian skier continued to deliver impressive results, regularly finishing in the top three in the overall ranking of the World Cup (3rd in 2012, 2nd in 2013 and 2014). The 2015-2016 season got off to a flying start for the skier, who notched up 7 victories and 2 second places, but unfortunately a crash on the legendary Kitzbühel downhill course cut the season short for him. One thing’s for sure: Aksel Lund Svindal will carry on impressing us with his talent and incredible fighting spirit. Discover Aksel Lund Svindal's website
